George Ezra | ‘I don’t have fancy tastes’: George Ezra bought Pokemon cards while drunk

George Ezra once bought a full deck of Pokemon cards on eBay after “a few drinks”.

The ‘Shotgun’ hitmaker insisted he’s never been one to spend money on sports cars and designer clothes because he doesn’t have ‘expensive tastes’ , but he once got a shock when he woke up after a drinking session to find he’d bid on some of the wanted trading cards.

Speaking to Dave Berry on Absolute Radio, George said: “I don’t have expensive tastes, I wouldn’t say, but I remember waking up once after having had a few drinks and bought a full set of original pokemon cards on ebay but it was at the right time there was a bit of a revival recently, it was before that so it wasn’t too crazy… there was a while where I checked my emails and I was like you what.”

The 28-year-old singer-songwriter has just returned with his new single, “Anyone For You,” from his upcoming third studio album, “Gold Rush Kid.”

And George recently admitted he had become “overwhelmed” with the idea of filming during lockdown.

He explained: “For the past two years, I’ve gotten overwhelmed with the idea of touring and doing things publicly.

“It’s not going to last forever, so I just need to enjoy it while it’s here. I’ve met people, seen things and been to places I never should have, and I loved it.”

George joked that the silver lining of being stuck at home in the middle of the pandemic was that he was able to change his hairstyle.

The ‘Budapest’ hitmaker said: “Lockdown sorted out the hair because I had no choice but to grow it out. I was like, ‘Man, you should have done this a long time ago. ‘”

George has previously suggested that the pandemic has allowed him to break free.

The star – who has been open about her issues with anxiety and OCD in the past – said: “I’m having a lot of fun at the moment and I want to step up a gear.

“Having missed – we’ve all missed people, experiences – it’s just, lean into them, knowing now what it’s like without them. When opportunities arise, seize them.”
