George Clooney allegedly offered brutal advice for Derek Chauvin trial

Actor George Clooney has given blunt advice for the prosecution of former Minneapolis cop Derek Chauvin, family lawyer George Floyd said Wednesday on the episode of “The View.”

Lawyer Benjamin Crump recalled that Clooney lamented in an email that Chauvin’s defense attorneys were suggesting that the drugs – not the 9 minutes and 29 seconds that Chauvin pressed his knee to Floyd’s neck – had caused Floyd’s death in May 2020.

“He said, ‘Lawyer Crump, you should tell them that if Derek Chauvin feels so confident in this, he should volunteer during his case to get down in this courtroom and let someone come and put him down. the knee on the neck for 9 hours. minutes and 29 seconds and being able to see if he can survive, ”Crump recalls writing to him.

“Experts will be of the opinion during this case that the average human being can go without oxygen for 30 to 90 seconds – while George Floyd was without oxygen for over 429 seconds, and that is why it is ‘It was intentional what this officer did, “Crump added. “And I believe in my heart that he will be held criminally responsible and that this will hopefully set new precedents in America.”

Clooney has not confirmed Crump’s story. A representative did not immediately respond to HuffPost’s request for comment.

The actor opened up about Floyd’s death, writing a scathing editorial in June 2020 during the Black Lives Matter protests that followed Floyd’s murder. Clooney has said racism in the United States is “our pandemic”.

“It infects us all, and in 400 years we haven’t found a vaccine yet,” Clooney wrote at the time. “It looks like we’ve even stopped looking for one and are just trying to treat the wound on an individual basis.”

Chauvin pleaded not guilty to murder and manslaughter in Floyd’s death. The trial continues.
