Garry McCarthy sworn in as interim Willow Springs police chief
WILLOW SPRINGS, Ill. (CBS) –A familiar face took the helm of the Willow Springs Police Department on Thursday, as Garry McCarthy was sworn in as acting chief.

He succeeded Willow Springs Police Chief Jim Ritz, who recently resigned.

McCarthy served as superintendent of the Chicago Police Department from 2011 to 2015, when Rahm Emanuel was mayor.
McCarthy ran for mayor of Chicago in 2019, but received less than 3% of the vote.
