CHICAGO (CBS) – A fall bounty of its summer harvest in August CBS 2 introduced you to this Chicago South Sider Nyajai Ellison, or the so-called Garden Goddess.
Ellison plants harvests fruits and vegetables behind her three apartments in the South Shore neighborhood and now she sells some of what she grows on the streets at Local Market Foods on 71st and Jeffrey.

This market is the main source of fresh produce for this community, which has long been considered a food desert.

“I live in this neighborhood; I donate products to this neighborhood and make sure our community has the best, ”said Ellison.
This time around, the Garden Goddess is selling microgreens that she grows in an indoor garden in her basement. Everything from sweet peas and arugula, to peppers and tomatoes.
