Derived from the violence and insecurity that plagues Mexico City, nearly 100 members of organized crime have been arrested in different operations carried out by the Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC), carried out since 2019.
This was announced by the head of the CDMX SSC, Omar Garcia Harfuchwho appeared before the local Congress This Thursday, October 27, for the Fourth Government Report of the capital’s president, Claudia Sheinbaum, where she announced the results in terms of security for the last three years.
In this sense, the secretary highlighted that from the beginning of October 2019 to mid-October 2022, 51 operations have been carried out in conjunction with the Secretary of the Navy (Semar), which has resulted in the arrest of almost a hundred members of 10 criminal groups who are the main generators of violence in the capital.
In total, Harfuch indicated that in that period 91 alleged members of organized crime have been arrestedwhich were considered priority targets due to the different illicit activities they engaged in, although he did not specify which 10 criminal cells were.
