A day before the song was released, the artist shared a snippet of it on Instagram and gave insight into how he navigates his grief through music. “I’ve been thinking about my mom a lot lately,” he wrote. “Grieving can be a complicated process, it comes in waves. To release a song tomorrow for her birthday that I wrote about this process.”
In November 2021, G-Eazy wrote a heartfelt tribute to “my queen, my hero, my everything…my mother” on Instagram. “What you’ve been through, the pain you’ve endured and the impossible adversity you’ve faced will stay with me forever, deeply ingrained in the fibers of my identity and my being,” he shared to L. ‘era. “You will always be my biggest inspiration.”
