Friendly bet turns into $ 40,000 in donations | Local News

Shop With a Cop raises funds year round to help children from low income families in Saint-François County. Schools and social workers choose the children. Children receive $ 100 tax free to shop at Walmart with a law enforcement officer or other volunteer.

“The Sheriff’s Department is so grateful to our generous community who have truly come together for this cause, and I hope we can take more kids than we ever took this year to Shop With a Cop.” , said Brenneke. “It’s too bad we need this program, but, at the same time, we are so thankful that our community is generous enough that we can have this program.”

Other businesses in the region also wanted to join in the fun, including Domino’s Pizza which donated $ 5,000 to the cause.

By the end of Friday’s workday, several other local businesses had announced on social media that they wanted to participate, increasing the amount to be donated to Shop With a Cop. Other local businesses were also challenged to place a bet.

The Farmington Companies, certified restoration and cleaning and quality restoration specialists each donated $ 2,500. Cedar Falls Tactical of Bonne Terre donated $ 2,350 to the cause.
