Frank Warren thinks Anthony Joshua vs. Oleksandr Usyk will NOT happen and slams Eddie Hearn after missing promotion Tyson Fury vs. Dillian Whyte

Frank Warren believes Anthony Joshua won’t face Oleksandr Usyk in a rematch as the veteran promoter hit out at Eddie Hearn.

Matchroom boss Hearn has spoken about what happened at the top of the heavyweight division when ‘withdrawal talks’ to allow Tyson Fury to fight Usyk fell apart.

He joined talkSPORT Breakfast on Monday and said AJ was adamant he didn’t want to retire and Fury wanted a warm-up fight before facing Usyk.

Hearn also cast doubt on whether the Gyspy King will even defend his WBC belt against mandatory challenger Dillian Whyte.

But Fury promoter Warren has now responded to Hearn, taking a swipe at his rival and casting his own doubts on AJ’s rematch against Usyk.

He told talkSPORT: “He keeps saying Tyson doesn’t fight Usyk, I don’t think Joshua will. That’s my opinion.

“I don’t think he wants that revenge right now.

“Hearn has his hands full now, he has this fight and why does he keep talking about what we are doing?

“Our fight is going to be on BT Box Office, it’s going to be a great fight to watch. Then they can go see all those Eddie shows [Hearn] puts on its application.

Frank Warren has won the purse bids for the Fury vs Whyte fight with a record bid of $41m (£30.6m) – confirmed to be the biggest purse bid in boxing history – while Hearn failed with a bid of $32m (£23.9m).

Warren continued, “If he [Hearn] had his way, he would be involved in everything. He would also have your job.

“What he had going for him was he put in the highest stock market bid ever, he held the record for the highest stock market bid ever… for 10 seconds.

“He should be happy about that and move on. He says more about the fight than me and I put the winning part in it.

“We are dealing with Dillian’s attorney. It’s up to him if he wants to talk, I have no control over him.

“We were told that we had to deal with his lawyer, and that’s what we are doing. We deal directly with his attorney.

“For some reason, if he wants to bring Hearn on board, I don’t know why he would, but it’s his choice.

“The thing is, there’s no trading, he gets what’s in the stock market. That’s it.”
