Frank Warren says Anthony Joshua vs Daniel Dubois would be more appealing to UK fans than AJ vs Deontay Wilder

Frank Warren wants to see Anthony Joshua and Daniel Dubois face off and he thinks it would be a “tough fight”.

In his most recent fight, Dubois challenged Oleksandr Usyk for the unified WBA, WBO and IBF world heavyweight titles and the Briton was stopped in the ninth round.

But Dubois and his promoter Warren believe he deserved the win after dropping Usyk with a body shot in the fifth round, but the referee ruled it was a low blow.

Warren appealed the decision to the WBA and requested a rematch, but there is no update on the situation yet.

And so, in the meantime, Warren wants to make a fight between Dubois and former two-time heavyweight world champion Joshua.

“I think a good fight would be (Dubois) and Joshua,” Warren told talkSPORT.

“Because both of them have been criticized recently for their desire.

“Joshua is a big puncher like Daniel and you watch his last few fights where you wanted to see a little bit more, but I think it’s a great fight.”

AJ is currently in talks to fight Wilder next in Saudi Arabia, but negotiations have stalled and promoter Eddie Hearn has said Joshua could fight someone else first in December.

And when Warren was asked if a clash with Dubois would be more appealing than a clash between Joshua and Deontay Wilder, he replied: “I think with the British fans it would be.

“I don’t have a problem with Wilder versus Joshua but it’s not going to happen. I’ve had this conversation several times, I don’t think at all this fight is taking place in Saudi Arabia at the moment.

Warren went on to say that Dubois could give Joshua a good fight, as he gave Usyk arguably his toughest test at heavyweight.

Before continuing: “(Joshua) has to fight someone and if it’s not Wilder, then who is he going to fight?”

Finally, Warren made a prediction for a possible Joshua vs. Dubois fight, saying, “I like my man, but we’ll see if they want to go that route.”
