Tyson Fury co-promoter Frank Warren has played down talks about a potential fight with David Haye in 2021, but hasn’t completely ruled it out.
The pair were previously scheduled to meet eight years ago, but Haye’s injuries called off the contest.
In a surprise move, he returned to the ring at 40 for a fight with his friend Joe Fournier last weekend.
Having previously claimed it would be a unique case, Haye caused further shock by calling Tyson Fury after winning on points.
“There is one fighter I would come back to professional boxing for and that is Tyson Fury,” he said. “That big big can, I know I’m his kryptonite, I know what he can’t handle.”
“He’s a duster and I know I’m his kryptonite and I know he knows it.” He knows it, his father knows it and his uncle knows it.
“My overhand right… which I didn’t even show in there tonight, didn’t mean to scare him.” If I had dropped my right hand, he wouldn’t have fought.
“He thinks it would be an easy fight, but [he’s] wrong. I know he’s dodging Anthony Joshua but he doesn’t want this job. We were supposed to fight in 2013 but I was injured but I’m healthy and ready to go.
Fury co-promoter Warren responded to iFL TV saying, “I love David. I have a lot of respect for David.
“But he’s 40 years old. He is not a young person, even if he is not 58 years old.
“Having said that, he suffered serious injuries.
“Definitely against Tony Bellew. He obviously had those injuries and he shouldn’t have been in the ring in the first place.
“I don’t know if he got rid of the injuries or not.
“I’m sure he called Tyson because he and Tyson – let’s get it right – would be a huge fight. there is no doubt.
“But I think he needs to do a bit more before he talks about Tyson.
“For number one, it would have to be noted. And to be classified, you would have to fight a classified fighter.
