The Catalan Dragons have suffered a major blow ahead of the new Betfred Super League season with star winger Fouad Yaha ruled out for five months.
The French club have revealed that surgery for a dislocated shoulder Yaha suffered in pre-season training was successful but he will still miss most of the season.
It’s a first-half hat-trick for Catalan Dragons’ Fouad Yaha and it comes after a solid run from Gil Dudson
A short press release published by the Dragons indicates: “Fouad Yaha was successfully operated following his dislocation of the shoulder. His unavailability is estimated at 5 months.
The 26-year-old scored 100 tries in 149 appearances for the Perpignan-based side and became their all-time top try scorer last campaign.
The Catalans are already sweating over the fitness of Sam Tomkins and Mike McMeeken ahead of their season opener at Wakefield on February 17, with both players undergoing minor operations following last year’s World Cup.
The 2023 Betfred Super League season kicks off in February with two first round matches live on Sky Sports and streaming on NOW TV. Grand Final runners-up Leeds Rhinos travel to Warrington Wolves on Thursday February 16, followed by promoted Leigh Leopards who host Salford Red Devils on Friday February 17.
