Forward progress came to a halt in a brush fire along Highway 4 Contra Costa Co.; evacuation warnings lifted

MARTINEZ, Calif. — Forward progress was halted for the Franklin Fire which erupted near Rodeo in Contra Costa County Monday night.

The fire is currently 25% contained and threats to structures have been mitigated, Cal Fire said.

The Contra Costa Sheriff has lifted evacuation warnings for the area and residents can “resume their normal activities”, according to the sheriff.

The 100-acre blaze quickly accelerated to a “dangerous rate of spread” and had threatened some structures, according to Cal Fire.

Mutual aid is provided by Contra Costa Fire, the Contra Costa Sheriff and the California Highway Patrol, who administer road closures and traffic control.

Please avoid the area.
