Formula 1 qualifying results: 2021 French Grand Prix starting grid

Long live France.

Saturdays were just as eventful as Sundays in this Formula 1 season: Charles Leclerc finished on pole after a red flag stopped the session for Monaco’s qualification, while four red flags were blown for the GP d ‘Azerbaijan, an F1 record.

This Sunday, the pole position belongs again to Max Verstappen, his second pole of the year.

The drivers ‘and constructors’ championships are still wide open for the race on day 7 on Sunday: Max Verstappen leads Lewis Hamilton by the weakest of the margins, with just four points separating the two best drivers in the standings. Red Bull currently leads Mercedes in the constructors’ championship, with Sergio Perez helping to widen the gap in Baku.

This is the first of a triple race to come.

Formula 1 calendar 2021

Formula 1 returns in 2021 with a zaftig 23 racing schedule, starting with the Bahrain Grand Prix on March 28 and ending with the usual Abu Dhabi Grand Prix on December 12.

Canada’s GP would be canned as the country continues to grapple with coronavirus concerns, with F1 adding the Styrian GP in its place. The GP of France advances by a week to June 20.

The Portuguese Grand Prix returns for its second consecutive race after a 22-year absence. The Saudi Arabian Grand Prix will also make its debut this year at the Jeddah Street circuit, scheduled for December.
