Former NFL wide receiver Travis Rudolph has been charged with murder following a double shootout in Florida, on Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office said Wednesday.
The 25-year-old has been charged with first degree murder with a firearm and attempted first degree murder with a firearm, according to the sheriff’s office. Rudolph was enrolled in the Palm Beach County Main Detention Center on Wednesday, court records show.
MPs responded shortly after midnight to the Lake Park shooting on Wednesday, authorities said. A man was found dead, another man was taken to hospital, two others would have been shot, but were not injured.
Rudolph’s NFL career was short-lived, spending time with the New York Giants and Miami Dolphins in 2017 and 2018. In 2020, Rudolph signed with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers of the Canadian Football League. . The team released Rudolph after his arrest.
Rudolph was Florida State University’s main receiver in 2015 and 2016. He chose to skip his senior year and make the NFL Draft in 2017. He was not drafted and was subsequently signed to the squad.
