Former Florida RB targets Gators over son’s handling

A Florida Gators legend appears unhappy with the program because of how his son’s recruitment was handled.

Former Florida running back Earnest Graham took to social media Thursday with a not-so-cryptic message that was clearly aimed at the Gators.

Graham’s son is Myles Graham, a four-star linebacker who is part of Florida’s 2024 recruiting class. Florida lost commitments from several players early in the signing period this week, but Myles officially signed with the Gators on Wednesday. It’s possible that Earnest felt information had been withheld from him and his son before this.

As All Gators’ Zach Goodall notes, former Florida linebackers coach Jay Bateman was hired Thursday as Texas A&M’s new defensive coordinator. This decision surprised many people. This also happened just hours before Earnest expressed his frustration.

Obviously, it’s likely that Bateman played a significant role in recruiting Myles. The safe assumption is that Earnest is not happy that Florida hasn’t communicated that Bateman was potentially leaving the program.

Florida head coach Billy Napier has been criticized for his recruiting shortcomings. It won’t help his case that one of his key signatories appears unhappy.

Earnest was a star at Florida, where he played from 1998 to 2002. He ranks fifth in Gators history with 3,065 yards and third with 33 rushing touchdowns.
