Former employee of a preschool learning center accused of abusing students

HAYTI, Mo. (KAIT) – A former Missouri Early Learning Center worker is behind bars after police say she was caught on camera abusing her students.

According to the Hayti Police Department, on Wednesday, Nov. 2, officers received a report from the Early Learning Center that one of their teachers, Gladys Johnson, 23, of Caruthersville, was seen in the video striking, grabbing , choking, and cursing the students.

A news release said that shortly after police were able to confirm the allegations, Johnson was tracked down and arrested.

Johnson is being held at the Pemiscot County Justice Center, charged with child abuse or neglect and serious emotional or physical harm. No bond has been set.
