Former Chiefs coach Britt Reid charged with DWI crime

Britt Reid, former Chiefs coach and son of head coach Andy Reid, has been charged with the DWI felony following his Feb.4 accident.

Jackson County, Mo., prosecutors say Reid “drove a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol and was criminally negligent in driving at excessive speed,” according to ESPN.

If convicted, Reid faces up to seven years in prison.

On February 4, Reid struck a broken down vehicle on the side of the road near the Chiefs facility. The car crash left 5-year-old Ariel Young in a coma and injured another child. Young would wake up later, but the family’s lawyer says she will live with permanent brain damage.

Reid admitted to drinking to law enforcement at the scene, but no charges were laid at the time of the incident.

Reid’s contract, which expired after Super Bowl 55, would not be renewed.
