Ford Mustang Mach-E gets more range, faster charging, and quicker acceleration

Ford has revealed the 2024 Mustang Mach-E, with more range, faster charging and faster acceleration than previous models.

Ford is the second largest seller of electric vehicles in the United States, but remains far behind Tesla in terms of total sales. The Elon Musk-led company has seen its U.S. market share decline quarter-over-quarter, but still controls more than 50% of the electric vehicle market. As such, Ford is tweaking its flagship electric vehicle in hopes of improving its market position.

The 2024 Mach-E will now travel approximately 10 to 20 miles more than previous model years

The 2024 Mach-E will now travel about 10 to 20 miles more than previous model years, according to Ford. The rear-wheel-drive configuration with extended battery range now offers an EPA-estimated total range of 320 miles, while the standard battery version will get 250 miles of range. Ford says the range for the 2024 Mustang Mach-E GT is 280 miles.

Additionally, it will accelerate from zero to 60 mph in 3.3 seconds, which Ford says is faster than the Tesla Model Y and Porsche Macan 4 Electric, and will run the quarter mile in 11.8 seconds at 184 mph. The Performance upgrade is optional on the Mach-E GT but standard on the new special edition Rallye version of the electric SUV.

When plugged into a DC fast charger, the Mach-E 2024 can charge from 10 to 80 percent in 36.2 minutes with the extended battery life, which is 8.8 minutes faster than previous models.
