Flyers trade Braun to Rangers, Armband to Oilers at deadline

The NHL trade deadline moved to 3 p.m. Monday. the Leaflets had already made their biggest move on Saturday when they dispatched a longtime captain Claude Giroux in Florida, but they had other parts that were definitely on the market and available.

One of those players was dropped from Sunday’s roster pending a trade. justin brown was indeed moved at the deadline, going to the New York Rangers for a third-round pick in 2023. So was Derick Brassardwho is heading to the Edmonton Oilers for a 2023 fourth-round pick.

Braun’s 2023 third-round pick gives the Flyers three third-round picks in the 2023 NHL Draft. In addition to their own, the Flyers also acquired a third-round pick in 2023 as part of the deal with Giroux.

Braun, 35, was acquired by the Flyers ahead of the 2019-20 season for a pair of draft picks. He had spent his entire nine-year career in San Jose at the time. During his three seasons with the Flyers, Braun often played above his projected role, filling this season the best pairing with Ivan Provorov. He had nine goals and 32 assists for 41 points in 176 games and posted a plus-1 rating in that span averaging 18:36 of ice time.

Brassard, 34, signed a one-year, $825,000 contract with the Flyers this offseason. He struggled with injuries this season, but still had six goals and 16 points in 31 games.

Martin Joneswho also had buzz on the trade deadline, was unmoved and remains with the Flyers.

GM Chuck Fletcher will address the media this afternoon.
