Floyd Mayweather targeted by Bellator MMA star AJ McKee | Boxing News

Floyd Mayweather was challenged by AJ McKee, the last MMA fighter to cross the boxing ring.

McKee is undefeated at 18-0 as the Bellator MMA champion and, after a decisive performance on the weekend where he beat Patricio ‘Pitbull’ Freire, he called up Mayweather.

“I would have a lot of respect for him, right away,” McKee said.

“I’m the best at my sport. He’s the best at his sport.

“I would just like to share this moment with him.

“He’s like my father!” I call my father “my antique”. [mess] You stand up.

“Be careful because if you hurt my antique, we have a problem.”

Mayweather had an exhibition fight with Logan Paul

Mayweather ended his sensational career with a perfect 50-0 record in 2017 beating UFC greatest superstar Conor McGregor.

He has since participated in exhibition fights with kickboxer Tenshin Nasukawa and YouTuber-turned-boxer Logan Paul.

McKee aimed at a finely grained dig at Logan and Jake Paul’s involvement in boxing.

“These young guys who aren’t into sports? They’ve got something to prove,” McKee said.

“I have nothing to prove in boxing against Floyd.

“It’s just me who wants to be recognized as the best in my sport and share a moment with a big man from another sport.

“I hope that will happen someday.

“He told me he didn’t fight anymore. I said ‘cool’.

“But you never know, man. You never know.”

Bellator’s AJ McKee explains why he wants to be MMA’s Floyd Mayweather

McKee previously told Sky Sports: “I personally spoke to Floyd and he told me he was not fighting.

“But he does exhibition matches!

“It’s about respect. He fights YouTubers. It’s a different level of respect that I carry.

“I wouldn’t go there to beat him up! I would go for practice games, to test my skills and to move around with a big one.

“Stylistically, I will be undefeated my entire career. I won’t lose.

“I’m also going to make money with Floyd!

“Being undefeated, his work ethic, $ 100 million per fight?

“I made the long trip like Floyd. I had no favors. I took it all gradually.

“In the near future, we will see things change. If not for me, but for other fights.”
