Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg said on ABC’s “The View” on Friday that “he was right” when asked if he agreed with husband Chasten Buttigieg’s quote that the law ” Don’t Say Gay” will “kill children” while discussing Florida’s recently passed “Parental” law. Education Rights Act”.
Co-host Ana Navarro said: “The first thing I want to say is that I’m so sorry that you became the butt of jokes from really stupid and stupid people in regards to your fatherhood.”
She continued, “Speaking of attacks on LGBTQ plus, your husband Chasten is a teacher and he’s been a vocal critic of what’s going on in my state of Florida with the so-called ‘Don’t Say Gay’ Law Now , which he says will kill children. Do you agree? And, you know, as a politician because it hits you because, you know, your husband is a teacher. You are obviously LGBTQ yourself and you are now a parent. So how are you feeling?
Buttigieg said: ‘Yes, he’s right, and I think every piece of legislation should be judged by the effect it will have on real people in real life. And I understand the political reasons why they do this. By the way, for some of these political reasons, they have no plans for anything else, do they? They don’t have a plan to deal with inflation or gas prices, or the issues of not being able to get Florida homeowners insurance. They prohibit all kinds of conversations. It’s easier. It’s politically easier, but it’s going to hurt people.
