Flipkart’s foray into healthcare; Launch the Flipkart Health Plus app

Walmart Group company Flipkart on Wednesday announced its foray into the healthcare segment by launching a new Flipkart Health Plus app to leverage its reach and serve more than 20,000 PINs across the country.

The Flipkart Health Plus platform will onboard more than 500 independent vendors with a network of registered pharmacists for medical prescription validation and accurate drug dispensing, the company said in a statement.

Flipkart Health Plus Managing Director Prashant Jhaveri said that since the COVID-19 pandemic, Indians have witnessed a huge shift towards wellness and preventative health care and the focus is focused on health and wellness like never before.

“Through Flipkart Health+, we aim to address the critical issue of accessibility to genuine medicines and healthcare products and services across the country, especially in the most remote areas of the country that have been underserved until present,” Jhaveri said.

The app is available on the Android Play Store and will come to iOS in the future, the statement said. Flipkart said that although it is a mid-market platform, the company has implemented various quality checks and verification protocols, which will facilitate the delivery of genuine medicines and healthcare products by independent salespeople right to the customer’s doorstep.

“In the coming months, Flipkart Health+ plans to integrate third-party health service providers, who will offer customers other value-added health services such as teleconsultation and e-diagnosis,” the statement said.
