Five inmates hospitalized after fight at Maryland Correctional Facility in Jessup

BALTIMORE — Five inmates at the Maryland Correctional Facility — Jessup was hospitalized Friday night after a fight, the Maryland Department of Public Safety and Corrections said.

All injuries are considered non-life threatening, including “puncture wounds”, the agency said. No corrections officer was injured in the incident.

“A number of inmates” began brawling around 9 p.m., officials said.

Detectives from the agency’s Intelligence and Investigations Division work with staff to identify suspects and determine whether criminal charges will be brought.

Helicopter footage from WUSA9 showed several ambulances leaving the scene.

Maryland Correctional Facility – Jessup is a medium-security prison that can house 1,068 adult male inmates serving sentences of three months or more, according to the state government’s online guide.
