Fire destroys home in Madison County

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) – A fire engulfed a large house in Madison County on Friday afternoon.

According to Lt. James Filley of the Monrovia Volunteer Fire Department (MVFD), firefighters were dispatched to the structure fire around 1:38 p.m. at 148 Forest Ridge Drive.

Filley said when he arrived smoke and flames were visible and after a ‘brief interior attack’ the order was given to evacuate the house and crews worked on the fire from the outside .

Filley told News 19 that all occupants, including first responders, left the house safely and no one was injured. The Red Cross has been advised to help the owners.

Filley said his agency does not know how the fire started.

In addition to MVFD, Madison Fire assisted with “Aerial Appliances” as well as Harvest Volunteer Firefighters and Toney Volunteer Firefighters.
