HAZEL GREEN, Alabama – A family in Hazel Green is homeless after a fire destroyed the home and two vehicles on Tuesday morning.

Hazel Green Fire Chief Steve Watson said the call came around 4:30 a.m. about a fire on Silverwood Lane that started in the home’s garage.

Fire Chief Steve Watson called the house a total loss.

Firefighters arrived at the house about 10 minutes after the call and said a man and his son woke up to the flames in the house. The two came out without injury.

Moores Mill Fire Department, Bobo Fire and Hazel Green Fire Department were all on hand to help put out the flames. HEMSI was also there to help.
