Fire breaks out in new secretariat building in Hyderabad

A fire broke out inside the new Telangana secretariat building in Hyderabad on Friday. The building was still under construction and no casualties were reported in the incident so far.

Hyderabad Police reported that the fire started early in the morning today. Ten firefighters were deployed to put out the fire.

According to News18, the building was undergoing carpentry work on the ground floor when a “plastic material” caught fire and illuminated the first floor. Images and videos shared on social media show dense smoke coming from the roof of the building.

The new secretariat was due to be inaugurated in just two weeks on February 17 by Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao.

Just a day ago on Thursday, a major fire broke out at a warehouse in Chikkadpally in Hyderabad. It was brought under control around 11:30 a.m. after 13 firefighters and 50 firefighters battled the blaze for five hours. Two stores were emptied but no casualties were reported, the Times of India said.
