Fire at Stickney gas station leaves 1 dead, 2 injured – NBC Chicago

A major fire at a gas station in Stickney Wednesday afternoon left one person dead and two others injured, authorities said.

Authorities said flames engulfed a camper at the Gas ‘n’ Wash gas station near the intersection of Pershing Road and Cicero Avenue around 3 p.m. Wednesday.

A Stickney police officer who was patrolling the area at the time noticed the fire and was unable to access the vehicle due to the intensity of the flames.

Authorities later said one person was pronounced dead at the scene as a result of the fire, and two others were hospitalized in unknown condition with burns.

The identity of the victims is currently unknown. No further information is available.
