Goalkeeper: Lee Nicholls (Huddersfield) – score 7.36
No goalkeeper has made more saves than Huddersfield’s Lee Nicholls (22) in the English second tier in February, with the division’s busiest goalkeeper filling the place between the sticks. Nicholls kept four clean sheets in his six outings to return a WhoScored.com rating of 7.36.
Right-back: Neco Williams (Fulham) – rated 7.35
Fulham have two players in the Championship Team of the Month with Neco Williams impressive following his January loan arrival from Liverpool. The young right-back provided two assists in February, out of a total of five key passes. 21 tackles and interceptions combined was also a solid comeback for Williams to help earn a WhoScored.com rating of 7.35.
Centre-back: Marvin Ekpiteta (Blackpool) – rating 7.49
The first of three Blackpool players to make the squad, Marvin Ekpiteta scored the number two and three goals for the season in February to help return a WhoScored.com rating of 7.49. 20 clearances and 17 aerial duels won both contributed to his inclusion in the team.
Centre-back: Dominic Hyam (Coventry) – score 7.35
Ekpiteta’s partner at the heart of defense in the Team of the Month is Dominic Hyam of Coventry. Like Ekpiteta, Hyam also netted twice in February, those with wins over Reading and Barnsley. The 26-year-old ranked fourth in clearances (35) and first in steals (20) to feature with a WhoScored.com rating of 7.35.
Left-back: Brandon Fleming (Hull) – score 7.52
No player made more tackles than Brandon Fleming (29) in the Championship in February, with the 22-year-old completing defense in the Team of the Month with a WhoScored.com rating of 7.52. On top of that, Fleming advanced well when he won the ball, dribbling more (18) than any other player to bolster his deserved inclusion.
Central midfielder: James Garner (Nottingham Forest) – score 7.50
Of the three goals James Garner has scored this season, two came in February as the on-loan midfielder scored wins against Blackburn and Bristol City. Garner was unlucky not to add a league assist in February after making nine key passes while earning a WhoScored.com rating of 7.50.
Central midfielder: Kenneth Dougall (Blackpool) – score 7.43
No player registered more assists than Blackpool’s Kenneth Dougall (4) in February, as the Aussie played a key role in Tangerines’ free goalscorers month. Indeed, no team has scored more league goals than Blackpool (11) in February with Roseate at the center of their efforts in the final third, returning a WhoScored.com rating of 7.43 in the process.
Central midfielder: Marcus Tavernier (Middlesbrough) – score 7.40
Marcus Tavernier has directly contributed to six league goals this season, including three in February as the Middlesbrough midfielder netted one and two assists. With a rating of 7.90, Fulham striker Aleksandar Mitrovic is the WhoScored.com Championship Player of the Month. The Serb took more shots (25) and scored more goals (6) than any other player in England’s second tier in February to help take his goalscoring tally for the 2021/22 campaign to 34 with 13 games to go.
Striker: Gary Madine (Blackpool) – rating 7.40
The third and final Blackpool player to feature in the Team of the Month is striker Gary Madine, who achieved a WhoScored.com rating of 7.40 in February. Madine has scored three times in six games over the past month and was hard to contain when Blackpool went straight, winning more aerial duels (49) than any other player to join Mitrovic in the front row.
Forward: Jaden Philogene-Bidace (Stoke) – score 7.52
