Vandendriessche is almost certain to return to Parliament as Vlaams Belang’s lead candidate for the European elections.
Meta imposed the shadowban because Vandendriessche posted content that violated Facebook’s terms of service, such as hate speech, according to the decision.
Meta must compensate Vandendriessche for the advertising costs he had to incur to compensate for the ban, amounting to €27,279. She must also pay €500 for damage to her reputation.
Meta did not respond to a request for comment in time for publication.
