Christian McCaffrey, Chris Carson, Raheem Mostert, and Tevin Coleman are just some of the big-name running backs dealing with injuries ahead of Week 12. Knowing the latest updates — as well as the handcuff RBs who stand to benefit if these players are out — will be key when making your final fantasy start ’em, sit ’em decisions, and we’ll be delivering the latest news below.

Is Christian McCaffrey playing this week?
Despite getting in limited practices this week, McCaffrey (shoulder) is not expected to play on Sunday against the Vikings.
It makes sense since the Panthers have a Week 13 bye, so it’s likely Mike Davis will once again be handling the bulk of the RB work. Rodney Smith surprised with eight carries last week, including some key early-game work, but Davis is a safe RB2 in this favorable matchup.
Is Chris Carson playing this week?
UPDATE: Carson was limited in practice on Thursday.
There haven’t been any new updates on Carson (foot) since last week, but considering coach Pete Carroll said last Thursday that Carson “would play” in Week 12 against Philadelphia, we can reasonably assume that’s still the plan.
The Eagles are slightly above average at limiting fantasy points to RBs, but as long as Carson is active, he should be in fantasy lineups as an RB2/flex. It’s possible Carlos Hyde steals more carries than usual, but unless Carson is a surprise scratch, Hyde can’t be trusted on Monday night.
Is Raheem Mostert playing this week?
Mostert (ankle) was designated to return from the IR earlier this week, and while that doesn’t guarantee he’ll suit up on Sunday against the Rams, it’s a step in the right direction. We’ll know by 4 p.m. ET on Saturday of Mostert has a chance of playing.
Coach Kyle Shanahan said last week that he “hopes” Mostert and Tevin Coleman (knee) will return this week, but at this point, it’s tough to know what to expect. If Mostert is active, he’s the only 49er back worth playing in a tough matchup. If Mostert is out and Coleman is active, he’d have some standard-league flex value while Jerick McKinnon would have some PPR flex value. If both Mostert and Coleman remain out, McKinnon would make for a decent RB2/flex, especially in PPR leagues.
