Families are in shock after 3 women were killed outside a rental house in Los Angeles – NBC Chicago

Los Angeles authorities have an elite homicide division working on a shooting that occurred outside of a short-term rental home, and while they do their job, members of the family are reeling from the devastating tragedy.

Police have yet to release information about the suspects or the circumstances leading up to the shooting, which left three people dead and four others in the neighborhood near Beverly Hills.

The three women found shot dead in a car parked outside a short-term rental house in Los Angeles were longtime friends, identified by authorities as Iyana Hutton of Chicago, Nenah Davis of Bolingbrook and Destiny Sims, who lived in Arizona – but grew up on Chicago’s South Side.

Donna Howard is the mother of The Sims.

“I just miss her – we were alike in so many ways,” Howard said. “We are suffering here. Her children are suffering. Chicago is suffering.

Howard says she last spoke with her daughter Friday night. She says Destiny told her she was going to an album release party for a childhood friend.

“She was calling to check in and I told her not to worry about the kids – just have fun,” she said.

Police are still trying to piece together what happened at the house where the shooting took place. Neighbors say police visited the house several times before this incident.

“There’s usually some sort of problem, the cops have been called in for a rental, more and more cops and it’s really not fair to the people in this neighborhood,” neighbor Rachel David said.

Destiny liked to draw and do her hair.

She leaves behind three children, aged 1, 5 and 6, and her mother says she will now raise her grandchildren.

She’s also aiming to raise money online to get her daughter’s body back to Illinois, while holding out hope that an arrest will happen soon.

“I got them out of Chicago for a better life and for the most part they were fine,” Howard said. “She’ll miss me.”
