Facebook passwords compromised: App owner Meta warns that 1 million account users could have their login and password details stolen

CHICAGO– Facebook owner Meta has warned that up to 1 million users may have had their login details stolen.

Meta researchers have discovered over 400 malicious Android and Apple apps designed to steal personal Facebook credentials.

The company said it was reaching out to users who might be at risk.

Malicious apps are disguised as games, photo editors and lifestyle services.

Often, app users are prompted to log in with Facebook, allowing hackers to steal usernames and passwords.
