Eydon was sent off from Saturday’s Cazoo Derby at Epsom after suffering a setback.
The Roger Varian-trained colt finished fourth in the 2000 Guineas at Newmarket on his last start and was due to progress to 12 furlongs for the first time in the first Classic, with connections opting to avoid an alternative entry in the Prix du Jockey Sunday. Club in Chantilly.
However, Varian reports the Olden Times colt suffered a minor issue on Wednesday which means he will no longer line up at Epsom.
The coach tweeted: “Unfortunately Eydon will miss the Derby at Epsom. He has suffered a minor setback which will prevent him from racing on Saturday.
“While it is of course extremely frustrating to miss out on a classic opportunity, we look forward to the rest of the season with Eydon and he remains a very exciting prospect for his owner, Prince AA Faisal.”
Eydon had been a 20-1 overall shot for the Derby.
