Exports of ceramic and glass products hit $3.5 billion in FY22

Exports of ceramics and glassware hit a “record” $3.5 billion in 2021-22, the Commerce Ministry said on Sunday.

He said exports increased due to increased shipments of ceramic tiles and sanitary products.

India is the second largest tile manufacturer in the world. Major glassware export items include glass packaging items, porcelain sanitary ware, glass mirror, unwired tinted glass, glass beads and glass wool.

India exports to over 125 countries and major destinations include Saudi Arabia, USA, Mexico, Kuwait, UAE, Iraq, Oman, Indonesia, UK and Poland.

“Over the years, the industry has modernized through new innovations and product profile, quality and design to emerge as a modern, world-class industry ready to compete globally,” said the ministry.
