‘Expect delays’: ALDOT work happening in Morgan, Madison County this week

MORGAN COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) — The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) is telling travelers to expect delays on Interstate 65 this week, as well as US 231.
Paving work will take place Wednesday, September 20 and Thursday, September 21 between mileposts 319 and 321 on I-65 northbound between Lacon and Falkville.
On Thursday, crews will work between mile markers 331 and 332 on northbound I-65, just south of Priceville.
Work will take place between approximately 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. on those days, according to ALDOT. Travelers are being told to expect delays due to the outer lane closure and to allow for additional travel time or alternate routes while crews work.
This work will occur in conjunction with maintenance of navigation lights, resulting in closures near the Whitesburg Bridge on US 231 and the Tennessee River Bridge on I-65 throughout the week.
“The work will take place from approximately 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. each day, from Tuesday September 19 to Thursday September 21. Work will begin with the US 231 bridges, then once completed, move to the I-65 bridges. Expect delays due to outside lane closure,” ALDOT said.
