INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Friday is Military and First Responder Day at Indiana State Fair and Easterseals Crossroads is bringing back its special program in honor of Indiana’s heroes.

The organizers call it “Honoring Hoosier Heroes: A Tribute to Our Servicemen and First Responders”.

The program, which is expected to last just over half an hour, will feature military veterans, speakers from the Gold Star and Blue Star families, Indianapolis firefighters and more.

This is only the second time they’ve hosted the Indiana State Fair Tribute, but many people in central Indiana are familiar with their “Remembering Our Fallen” exhibit. It’s a fallen Hoosier memorial and it has traveled all over Indiana, giving people information about some of the Hoosier veterans who died in action.

Easterseals Crossroads Community Outreach Coordinator and Veteran Buzz Smith spoke with Randall Newsome from All Indiana about what people can expect at the ceremony and also what it meant to have an application recently. from a local mom to have her son added to their exhibit.

The ceremony begins at 6 p.m. in the Pioneer Village Opry House at the Indiana State Fair on Friday.
