Ex-Oakland priest with lengthy criminal history charged with fatal impaired accident in Walnut Creek


WALNUT CREEK, Calif. (KGO) — A former Oakland priest with a long criminal history is due in court again on Thursday.

Seventy-five-year-old Stephen Miller Kiesle is charged with drunk driving and causing an accident in Walnut Creek on Saturday.

A man from Rossmoor has been killed.

The Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office also added two allegations of a lewd act on a child under 13.

Kiesle has already served six years in prison for sexual assault charges involving a girl in Truckee.

He was also at the center of sexual abuse allegations when he served as a priest in the Diocese of Oakland in the 1970s and 1980s.

He was discharged as a clergyman in 1987.
