Evergy: 100 electricity poles broken in severe weather Friday | New

KANSAS CITY, MO (KCTV) — Strong gusts of wind and a straight line wind of over 80 miles per hour have resulted in numerous blackouts and damaged utility poles in the metro area.

Evergy says there were around 100 poles broken, knocked down or damaged by Friday storms

“We have more than 500 line workers working to restore power and an additional 150 people working on removing trees from lines,” Evergy said in a statement.

According to Evergy, nearly 60,000 outages have been reported in Kansas and Missouri.

Almost half of the customers who lost electricity got it back.

Additional customers should expect their power to be restored overnight Saturday morning.
