[ad_1]

Margrethe Vestager expected an administration like this – the EU’s top tech cop says it’s a ‘dream come true’ to have a President in the White House dedicated to the rise of Big Tech. But what will this EU-US cooperation look like? That’s what host Ryan Heath wants to know. Also on the program: Vestager’s game plan to protect whistleblowers, as well as its own rules for tech in the home.

On the United States as an ally in the regulation of Big Tech

“I think it’s really, really interesting what’s going on in the United States right now – both on competition law enforcement and the signals being sent out there, with Lina [Khan]meeting with [Jonathan] Kanter, with the decree. It is like a dream come true to see a president take an interest in so many different markets. “- Margrethe Vestager, Executive Vice-President of the European Commission and Commissioner for Competition

On what she wants from a global corporate tax rate

“I know it sounds like a slogan, but better to have 80 percent now than 100 percent ever. And that’s basically where you are on taxation: if you ask for perfection, you’ll never get it. But if we could get a corporate tax floor and get some sort of fair distribution of tax rights, we would have taken a big step towards tax justice. It should happen this fall.
