Edinburgh’s Connor Boyle celebrates as Edinburgh crush the Paloise section

Edinburgh finished top of Pool C of the European Challenge Cup and Saracens also qualified, with both claiming overwhelming victories on Friday night.

Flanker Connor Boyle and winger Ramiro Moyano scored two tries each as the Scottish side beat Pau 54-5, while Sarries prevailed 55-5 against Brive in France.

Hooker Stuart McInally put Edinburgh on their feet in three minutes before Boyle’s brace put them firmly in control with just 20 minutes to play.

Scrum-half Henry Pyrgos added the bonus points try before Edinburgh returned to their squad with WP Nel, an early prop injury replacement, crossing just before half-time.

Moyano and back row substitute Pierce Phillips came on in the second half, with Jaco Van Der Walt converting all of Boyle’s first try. Moyano’s second score, converted by Charlie Savala, completed the scoring late.

Saracens, meanwhile, were 8-0 up after 10 minutes thanks to Owen Farrell’s penalty and Andy Christie’s try and although Setariki Tuicuvu responded for Brive, they too were quickly knocked out of the game.

Forwards Eroni Mawi and Nick Isiekwe made it 22-5 at halftime and scrum half Ivan Van Zyl scored less than a minute into the second period.

Ben Earl and Rotimi Segun dotted either side of the hour mark, Brive full-back Axel Muller was red carded for an infringement in the run-up to Jamie George’s try and Ben Harris finished the job, Farrell finishing with 15 points.
