David Moyes’ Hammers are certainly enjoying a rare foray into European football, advancing to the knockout stages and topping Group H with one game to spare.
As the top-seeded side, West Ham are guaranteed to be home for the second leg of their round of 16, but will be all too aware that unseeded Barcelona lurk as potential opponents.
The La Liga giants enter Europe’s secondary club competition for the first time after a Champions League group stage exit, beating Napoli 4-2 last night to win 5-3 on aggregate in the new round dams.
Rangers are also part of today’s draw after yesterday’s 2-2 draw with Borussia Dortmund at Ibrox sealed a 6-4 aggregate triumph that will be long remembered.
