EU leaders will threaten to impose new sanctions on Belarus if it continues to support Russia’s war in Ukraine, according to draft conclusions from this week’s summit. The leaders will urge Minsk “to stop allowing the war of Russian aggression” and say that Europe “remains ready to act quickly with new sanctions against Belarus if necessary”. Russia plans to station 9,000 troops in Belarus and hold lifeless joint military exercises soon.
