EU climate change targets remain fully in place despite renewed use of coal due to Russia’s “rogue” gas cuts, a senior EU official has said. “The 2030 and 2050 horizons of the EU [emissions reductions] the targets remain fully intact…although we may temporarily increase our use of coal, the long-term direction is clear,” Elina Bardram, the commission’s director of climate finance, told a forum in Brussels on Wednesday, Reuters reports.
