Erling Haaland’s goal in Carabao Cup clash against Liverpool reveals stat that shows he’s the debut master

Erling Haaland needed just ten minutes to score in his first game back as he gave Manchester City the lead in their Carabao Cup draw against Liverpool.
The Norwegian, who came into the clash with a whopping 23 goals in the season to his name, secured the end of Kevin De Bruyne’s cross from the left after edging past Joe Gomez.

On Haaland’s goal, former Liverpool midfielder Charlie Adam said in a commentary for talkSPORT: “Gomez has no idea where Haaland is and Haaland runs through him, wonderful finish.”
It was the perfect start for City, well worth their lead at the Etihad Stadium.
Haaland got off to a great start in his first Carabao Cup appearance but a stat reveals he loves new challenges.
As well as the Carabao Cup, the 22-year-old scored on his debut in SIX other competitions – the Premier League, DFL Supercup, DFB-Pokal, Bundesliga, Champions League and Norwegian Football Cup.
City more than deserved their lead after getting off to a much better start, but the visitors hit back in the 20th minute when Fabio Carvalho stroked his first shot past Stefan Ortega into City’s goal.
Pep Guardiola’s men resumed their lead in the 47th minute thanks to Riyad Mahrez’s fine finish.
