Erik ten Hag: Manchester United prepare to end trophy drought

While the Dutchman was critical of his side after the Premier League loss to Arsenal seemingly ended their hopes of a title challenge, United have made progress in the past few days.

Already they have a foothold in the Carabao Cup final after beating Nottingham Forest 3-0 in the first leg, while on Friday United overcame Reading to reach the FA Cup fifth round.

United are currently on their longest trophyless run in 40 years, the last winning silverware in 2017 in the form of the League Cup and Europa League.

While a top-four finish seems equally important to ten Hag in his first season at the club, ending this hoodoo would be a statement.

“We are here for the trophies but we still have a long way to go,” said ten Hag.

“We are building.”
