Environmental law group sues TVA over gas pipeline documents

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — The Southern Environmental Law Center is suing the nation’s largest utility for failing to fully disclose contracts related to gas pipeline projects.

The Tennessee Valley Authority plans to shut down its last coal-fired power plants and get more electricity from gas.

According to the lawsuit, when the environmental group requested information about the TVA plans, it received heavily redacted contracts.

TVA says the redactions are necessary because they contain confidential business information. The environmental group says TVA violated the Access to Information Act.
