England XI vs Italy: starting line-up, confirmed squad news, latest injury for Nations League game today

England have a relatively healthy bill of health as their World Cup preparations continue against Italy in the Nations League tonight.

While Gareth Southgate has had to deal with the enforced absences of Kalvin Phillips and Jordan Pickford at Milan, the Three Lions boss has plenty of the core of the squad available who have made deep runs in two consecutive Majors.

In place of Phillips, Jude Bellingham partners Declan Rice in midfield, with Jordan Henderson fresh off a hamstring injury.

John Stones’ suspension sees Tottenham’s Eric Dier partner Harry Maguire in central defense alongside Reece James. Dier is finally back in the international fold after his stellar form at Spurs, while Maguire is expected to continue to start despite struggling at Manchester United.

Southgate had little time to tinker with the staff, although Pickford’s injury sees Nick Pope stepping in between the posts.

Harry Kane and Raheem Sterling, two pillars of Southgate’s success, return to the lead alongside Phil Foden and Bukayo Saka.

Despite his first call-up, Brentford striker Ivan Toney has not been included in England’s 23-man squad. Marc Guehi and Ben Chilwell were also left out.
