Chelsea Women boss Emma Hayes praised her team after “painting Wembley blue” as they beat Arsenal to win the Women’s FA Cup.
The Blues lost 3-0 to rivals London, taking the lead in just three minutes thanks to Fran Kirby.
They then missed many chances, before doubling their lead just before the hour mark thanks to Sam Kerr’s goal.
The Australian scored a second behind as Chelsea won last season’s delayed FA Cup final to win a domestic treble.
“I thought we had it there. We predicted what they were going to do – and they did what we thought they were going to do, ”Hayes said.
“We painted Wembley Blue, it’s definitely a day at Chelsea today and our performance was absolutely superb.
“The first two were out of this world. I told Fran it was the best game I’ve seen him play for Chelsea and Sam’s confidence grew. But everyone played their part, did the job we asked them to do and we deserved to be winners.
“To think we’re triples is an incredible achievement – you couldn’t ask for more from the players and I’m extremely proud of them, the staff and the club. We have built this team over a long period and I think that ‘today we showed why we are champions. “
