An elected official from Occitania was stripped and severely beaten on the night of September 11 to 12, in a gay meeting place in Toulouse, according to corroborating sources quoted by AFP.
“The wounds [fractures] testify to the aggression suffered ”, indicated the public prosecutor of Toulouse Samuel Vuelta-Simon, adding that the victim, hospitalized,“ could not be heard ”. The attackers “stole the victim’s vehicle and his clothes,” said Samuel Vuelta-Simon. According to a police source, the elected official who suffers from a facial trauma was still hospitalized on September 13.
The investigation was entrusted to the departmental security “to locate and question the perpetrators of the attack who, therefore, have not yet been identified”, added the prosecutor, stressing that the police had found the vehicle. The homophobic nature of the attack was not confirmed by the prosecution.
