EHT boys basketball coach Cameron Bell earns 100th victory

The 61-43 win for the Egg Harbor Township men’s basketball teams over Gloucester Catholic was more than just a win for the Eagles.

It was head coach Cameron Bell’s 100th win at the school.

Bell, who took over the program seven years ago, made the Eagles one of the best programs in the Cape-Atlantic league.

“The biggest change has been kids staying home or coming home,” Bell told me. “You don’t win in CAL or any league without players and I was lucky to ‘have some really good players and I have one of the best coaching staff around.”

Two of Bell’s assistant coaches were there for the No. 1 win and have been with him for almost 10 years, and two of his former players are also on staff.

Bell has been an integral part of EHT Gyms for years, having led the teaching program at the EHT Recreation Center and helping to rebuild the EHT Travel Basketball Program before landing the varsity boys position.

“I love this city and everyone who lives here,” Bell said.

The Eagles were 14-1 in the 2021 season and burst onto the scene last year, going 23-4, and followed that up with another solid year going 19-4 .

“Achieving 100 wins tells me that the EHT is a real program that has developed players and gained the support of the city.”

He replaced George McNally in 2016, who had coached at the EHT for 22 years, winning 252, the most ever at the EHT.

The team will look to win Game 101 of the Cape-Atlantic League tournament, entering as the No. 3 seed.
